What is it?

Flock is a simple, easy to use iOS app that allows users to find and spontaneously hangout with nearby Moonbirds.

Moonbird holders will be capable of organizing their own hangouts without the Proof team’s permission, as well as take advantage of this freedom, to quickly spin up and get the word out (push notifications) about impromptu gatherings to those nearby, when they are scattered in close proximity, such as, a conference.

Flock benefits the Moonbirds community by increasing their connection and sense of belonging with one another. Flock achieves this by reducing the time and frustration of discovering and organizing spontaneous hangout opportunities with other Moonbird holders.

About the team

Hi! I am Tristan. I grew up in Portsmouth, VA before joining the Navy as a Nuclear Engineer on Fast Attack Submarines. The first two years were professional school, where they take 18 year olds and cram physical engineering in their craniums, night and day, for 2 years (Rightfully so, you literally hold a joystick that operates a Nuclear Reactor.). That followed by 4 years on the Sub.

Then, I went to the Bay Area where I started HeartX, which sought to improve heart disease, as an Uber for Functional Medicine Doctors. Working on HeartX for 3 years taught me relevant skills, like full stack programming and product management. Since then, I have also worked on The Points Guy mobile app and contracts for the government and startups.

I’m a day 0 Proof and MB holder, as well as one of the most active in real life event community members, meaning I understand the problems we have and ideas on how to make it better.

What are the risks?

Eventbrite, Discord, or some start up duplicating the product

We will use analytic software (ex: mixpanel) to quickly iterate through features that are undesirable by users. Larger companies experience the innovation dilemma, that prevents them from being so nimble.

We will mitigate this risk by continuing to innovate. Our team is good at forming new ideas and rapidly prototyping them for moving KPIs, leaving copycats in constant catch up, until it is too late. For example; Weebly had a competitor from S. Africa rip their interface off and they were relaunching their site with a new design 2 weeks later.

Tokenproof Dependency

Currently, user retention seems to be dependent on Tokenproof

If Tokenproof decides to compete with Flock, then removing their authentication support, user onboarding will fall off.

We will mitigate this risk by gaining mindshare and trust within the community. Once that happens, we will simply allow users to connect their wallets through the website like Tokenproof does.

What will the money actually be spent on? Do you expect any other money to come in related to this project, e.g. revenues?

The grant money will go towards service bills, talent, and customer research (likely hanging with you fine peeps, dare I say, “hoots” 😉 ).

REVENUE AND FUNDING STRATEGY

If Moonbirds support Flock they will get 1 year subscriptions for free.

Flock intends on sending shares and/or profit based royalties to the DAO treasury when the legal aspect gets sorted, to further the Lunar Society opportunities and incentives.

Flock will try a couple different revenue models, in search of a fit for the product. That said, we will begin by charging a $3 a month subscription to users. Other options include advertisement and B2B (Flock to Collection).

Flock is also raising $600,000 on a $6M market cap, in order to build iterate features, bug fix, and a/b test to attain product market fit.
