Totemz is an NFT project that aims to harness the mystical power of Mayan art to help the Moonbirds brand achieve wider recognition and adoption beyond web3. What is it?

Those of us who have jumped into the NFT space know the awesome power that this space has over us. This power, this energy, whether it’s FOMO or FUD or something in between, binds us to each other.

For us, it is a karmic energy that spurs from the countless interactions with people who share our passion for this space that keeps us wanting more

Furthermore, we know that this karmic energy has tremendous economic value.

Totemz is our idea to help harness that energy and use it to spread it amongst ourselves to grow our connections and passions within this space. More importantly,

Totemz is our idea to bring a wider audience to our space, through the power of mystical arts

Totemz is based on the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, which uses a 13-number/20-day name system to produce a 260-day calendar with each day representing a unique energetic frequency. This means for each of us, our birthdates represent a unique set of talents that only we possess.

For each of us, there is a set of Five Totemz:

Core Totemz: representing our life force and main character trait.

Guide Totemz: representing the energy that guides us out of turmoil.

Challenge Totemz: representing the force that requires us to overcome.

Force Totemz: representing that inner force that propels us forward.

Support Totemz: representing that critical external force that helps us when in need.

Astrology just has that intangible appeal. People cannot resist an art that has the power to tell them more about who they are - their personalities, their fortunes, who they're compatible with

Totemz will use powerful visuals to draw in our audience and give them that karmic energy. Moonbirds will have first dibs on it, obviously. Each Moonbird will mint its own Totemz, etched in perpetuity on the blockchain.

Down the line, every Totemz holder will be able to mint more Totemz for themselves and for others as gifts or invitations to join the incredible family that we’ve built, beyond Moonbirds, and beyond web3.

How does it benefit the Moonbirds and Mythics holder community?

Moonbirds and Mythics holders will be the first community to have exclusive access to mint their customized Totemz, and will be with us every step of the way in the initial three Stages of our roadmap (see below for details on Stages) as we build and deliver our main features.

The fundamental goal of this project is to use the power of the mystical arts and of the moonbirds community to give us a fun and entertaining way to reach out to each other and to those we’d love to come join us in web3.

About the team

My name is Hsu Li, and I’m a Day1-nested Moonbirds member. I have worked all over the world for the last 18 years as an entrepreneur, having worked in web3 as a crypto researcher and investment manager, web2 as an operator & product manager in e-commerce and ride-sharing, and web1 as a restaurant owner and IRL events organizer.

I’m the founder of the Beijing Chapter of Offchain, a nonprofit web3 IRL events organization with 70 chapters globally. Over the course of 2 years and 50 events, I’ve met some of the best young minds in web3, not just in China but all across the world. I love community-building, and now we have a great team. With the help of the Lunar Society, we hope that our project can help us, moonbirds, our broader web3 fam, and the web3-curious come together just a tad bit more, as we strive to get 1-billion in web3.

Nick Liu - head of BD/investment. Nick has extensive experience in web3 BD & sales, as well as in VC, as we will require his expertise as we grow.

Sissi - head of design. Sissi graduated from UArts Philadelphia and is a NFT artist/designer as well as a pure-bred kittie entrepreneur.

Princess Metaverse - head of marketing. Princess is a popular web3 KOL in China, as well as a published author of the book Web3.0 Travel Guide, released in 2022.

Seven - head of mystic arts. Seven is our guru in the Mayan arts and beyond, as she helps to ensure that we provide an optimal experience to our users.

Roadmap:

Stage 1 (0-30 days) - MVP product launch. Main feature(s): users can sign in with their moonbirds wallets, enter their birthdays (or any date) and generate customized Totemz, which they can decide whether or not to mint as an NFT collectible.

Stage 2 (31-60 days) - Main feature(s): users can select a Totemz in their wallet and enter a second date, and the system will generate a second customized Totemz and display information on the compatibility of the two. Users will be able to save this data for themselves.

Stage 3 (61-90 days) - Main features(s): users can search for others with compatible traits and connect with them by sending them special Totemz NFTs that are authenticated by us. They will be able to send Totemz for those who do not yet have web3 wallets, as we plan to implement a backend that will automatically create wallets on web2 sign-in. This will be the first stage at which we will attempt to monetize this concept.

What are the risks?

As of now, in terms of our team as described above, we already have people in place to fill those roles who understand the project, so the risk there will be in any of them needing to drop out due to unforeseen reasons.

In terms of the project itself, Stage 2 will require a significant amount of work to sort out all of the relationships and descriptions that any two user-input dates will generate, so that will be a challenge but we are confident it will get done.

Lastly, in terms of funding, the challenge will be achieving the requisite amount of adoption and interest so that we can pitch the project to investors and receive further funding once we reach Stage 3 and need to further develop and expand the project.

What will the money actually be spent on? Do you expect any other money to come in related to this project, e.g. revenues?

In Stage 1, the funding will be primarily allocated to the work-hours of devs (front-end and back-end) and our designer working to get our website off the ground (details above in our game plan section of this proposal).

Once we have launched Stage 1, funding will be needed on the marketing and community management side to build adoption and interest, of which we aim to get broad support from the moonbirds community. Work will continue on the development front throughout.

If we are able to receive the funding, current budget allocations will allow us to develop the project through the end of Stage 3, which is estimated at 90 days after launching the project.
